Kameng river becomes tourists’ hotspot for rafting
SEPPA, Mar 2: The promotion of the Tourism in East Kameng district got a major boost with the visit of tourist team comprises of tourists from Britain, Canada, Australia and Africa to the District for river rafting at Kameng river during the last weekend.
The team was headed by Director, Himalayan River Runner’s India Pvt Ltd. Yusuf Zaheer who halted at Sunday Beach, Wessang. The river rafting was organized with the support of East Kameng Club.
After staying at spot for two days, the team appreciated the scenic beauty of the place and thanked the members of the Kameng club for the hospitality they had shown during the expedition. Meanwhile they suggested the members to promote the place in a better way in the future so that its hidden potential could be utilized for the betterment of the district. DIPRO

ITANAGAR, Mar 2: The sixth foundation day of Apatani Meder Nello was celebrated with pomp and gaiety at Dree ground, Pappu Nalah on February 28 last.
Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh president Nabam Atum, who attended the function as chief guest exhorted the believers of indigenous faiths in the state to preserve and protect the age old culture and tradition of indigenous people of Arunachal Pradesh for posterity.
APIDFC managing director, Tony Koyu, who was the guest of honour advised the followers of Donyi Polo and other indigenous groups in the state to live a disciplined life and have full faith in their belief.
A compilation on Dree mythology of Apatanis and a book on nurturing indigenous faith of Arunachal Pradesh authored by Gyati Rana were also released on the occasion. Earlier, Narang Tani, chairman, Meder Nello Council appealed to all believers to respect other’s religions too and learn to live in harmony.

Khunjuju inspects projects under Nafra circle
ITANAGAR, Mar 2: Parliamentary secretary, Hydro Power Development and Bomdila MLA R T Khunjuju has an intensive tour to Nafra circle on Feb 27.
During his tour Khunjuju has inspected the Kajalang MHS (2x1000KW) being executed under Prime Minister Package. He also inspected the progress of PMGSY scheme executed by RWD department from Nafra to Kajalong and Steel Bridge over river Kajalong funded under BADP. Emphasising the power crisis and communication bottleneck of the area he exhorted the officers of the department concerned to complete the targeted schemes in time.
He was accompanied by EAC Nafra, SE DHPD Bomdila and concerned district head of Department, according to an official release.

Addressing the public Bosiram Siram informed that the present govt. under the leadership of the Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu is emphasizing on the education sector.
An education policy is on anvil. The education policy is being drafted and soon legislation will be passed on it. The system will be streamlined and solid foundation will be laid so that frequent changes can not be made at the whims of some individuals.
Equal distribution of teachers in all schools will be taken care of. NCERT books and norms will be followed and there won’t be frequent change of book in future. Infrastructural development will be looked after. National Curriculum Framework (NCF) will be followed and vocational education will be given importance so that qualified people are employed or self employed. Continues and Comprehensive Education (CCE) where the students will be evaluated and graded will be followed from the next session and the class X (Ten) examination will be done away with. The teachers will have to be present in their posting places so that daily evaluation is done properly, he added.
He appealed to the teaching community to put in more efforts, sincerity and dedication in their noble profession so that the students have good and strong foundation. The dedication will create good citizens and build better society and a strong nation.
Activity based education should be imparted so that the children can easily understand. They should be morally and physically disciplined as the children get influenced by them. They should inspire the children by their mere presence, Siram said.
He also urged the students to be more sincere and disciplined and obey the teachers. They should be keen to learn and achieve their goal in life. They should equip themselves to face the challenges in life and compete with the world.
Replying to the memorandum submitted by the people he informed that posting of teachers will be done in the coming session. Auditorium, library, science labs, toilets etc. are of prime importance for educational institutions. So priority will be given to them. Renovation and extension of school buildings, hostels, security fencing will be taken up soon as proposal for them has been sent to the central govt. under Rastriya Madhayamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and are likely to be approved/ sanctioned soon.
Regarding the memorandum submitted to the minister requesting to name the Hr. Secondary Mayang in memory of Lt. Bakin Pertin a visionary leader from the area, the minister said, he supported the idea and will take up the matter with consultation with the local elected representatives and elders.
He was optimistic that planning and policies of the govt. will usher in a era of developments specially in the sectors like education, health, road connectivity.
The facilities provided by the govt. like the newly inaugurated PHE office, PHC and schools should be utilized and looked after well for the posterity of the people.
He informed that under the establishment of model colleges in educationally backward districts by the govt., 10 (Ten) colleges have been sanctioned and one of them will be established at Upper Siang. He exhorted the people to select a suitable and viable place for its establishment. He assured to work for betterment of the society and the state.

ITANAGAR, Mar 2: State chief secretary(CS) Tabom Bam visited Chayangtajo area on 26th of this month to be part of Nyokum Yullo celebration.
While addressing the gathering Tabom Bam exhorted the people to celebrate Nyokum in a befitting manner. He reminded the gathering that Nyokum is an integral part of the culture of Nyishi community and hence every one should take part in it.

ITANAGAR, Mar 2: MLA Likha Saaya suggested the DCC workers of Lower Subansiri to maintain party ideology and discipline of INC party. He was speaking at Lower Subansiri DCC executive body meeting yesterday.
While urging the party cadres to follow the vision of Rahul Gandhi, Saaya suggested them to cooperate with Govt officers in developmental activities. ROING, Mar 2: Apropos the news item published in this daily on Feb 1 under the caption “Poor power supply resented” followed by clarification made by the EE (E&M) Tezu, I, A K Paul EE Power Roing division further clarified that the bursting of DG set was in fact at Anelih (Ahi Valley) in 2007 last and the electrical department was not capable to repair it due to acute constraint of fund during that time, but the correspondent had mistakenly quoted Alinye village under the E & M’s Awapani power project.
Roing correspondent adds: In regard to ‘the Awapani power project lying defunct resulting in poor power supply in Alinye village for last several months’ was reported according to the written complaint furnished to the correspondent by the All Dibang Valley District Handicraft Welfare Society (ADVDHWS) in the form of press release that clearly mentioned two machine in the old power house were out of function and no. 2 machine was out of order in new power house at Alinye village under Awapani power project.
When the correspondent enquired about the actual situation of Awapani power Project at Alinye, the sources said that out of 3x50 KW one is running smoothly and two machines are out of function, at the same time the second phase 250 KW machine are somehow running drifting the voltage percentage at peak hour.
However, this correspondent clarified that the bursting of the DG set at Alinye was in fact at Anelih village. The bursting of DG set mentioned at Alinye was of course mistaken which is actually at Anelih (Ahi Valley) under the control of the power department. GM NHPC urges ITI trainees to excel

ROING, Mar 2: The Industrial Training Institute (ITI) of Roing gets a new lease of life after initiative being taken up by National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC) under the up gradation programme assisted by World Bank. The corporate body has been aiding the ITI in every possible way to enhance the quality of the institute and bring out skilled manpower for better perspective of the state.
In a simple ceremony held on Feb 25 to felicitate the best trainees, A K Mishra General Manager (GM), NHPC, who was chief guest, gave assurance that every possible help would be offered to ensure job for all, if the trainees come out with best performance in their respective courses.
“Many of the private companies investing in state are looking for local talents to fill in various posts and with 28 companies in its process to tap the hydro power, the requirement of technical persons will be in demand. So, this institute could be one of the prime sources for the state to bring out more number of competent technical personnel,” said GM.
The GM further urged the instructors and principal of the institute to give their best in order to make this institute one of the top ITI’s of state.

Two booked on forest fire
ITANAGAR: An official team comprising EAC/executive magistrate, Itanagar, forest range officer and police team with the cooperation of president and members of Lobi Committee, doused the forest fire in the Dariya Hills behind Lobi area yesterday. Two persons involved in forest firing were identified as Tagio Tabak and Moi Tare and they were booked for prosecution, said Capital administration in a release today.
Meanwhile, the capital administration informed that setting the forest on fire is totally banned and legal action shall be taken against the violators of the ban order of the Govt.
